What we offer

I offer easy accessible help with information and practical tips, a place to discuss your concerns and ask your questions. Together we look for answers and tools that work for you and your family. You can do this in my practice in Maasmechelen. If desired, I also come to your home or provide online sessions (via Skype, WhatsApp, Whereby, mail). You decide what you prefer. On request, home visits can also take place during the week in the Leuven / Mechelen region.

I offer psychological counseling for parents with toddlers, preschoolers and primary school children and of course for your children themselves. This can always be done in Dutch or in English. You can contact me on the following topics:

  • Parentalquestions and/or difficulties
  • Developmentaldisorders (ASS, ADHD, ADD, developmental delay)
  • Social emotional difficulties (fears, self-confidence, difficult interaction with others, bullying problems, grief, ...)

  • Behavioralproblems
  • School difficulties (learning disabilities, motivation and / or concentration difficulties).

  • Psycho-education (explanation and help in processing a diagnosis for both parents and children).

You can also contact me for various examinations, often at the request of the school, speech therapists or other paramedics. Parents who are concerned about their child can also submit the application themselves.

  • On request a development determination test or IQ test can be done. Which test is taken depends on the child. This is always discussed with the parents. We make a distinction between two possible packages:

    1. An examination for speech therapy reimbursement in which we do the examination and provide the necessary report.

    2. An extensive investigation. We do an intake interview, followed by the examination and the follow-up discussion. You will receive an extensive report in which, in addition to the IQ figures, the background information (discussed with the parent) and the observations are included. This research is usually done to gain insight into the capacities of a child, but also in research into (high) ability, attention research, detecting causes in case of difficulties at school, etc.

  • Attention and concentration research for the determination of AD (H) D. These children are characterized by concentration problems and / or features of hyperactivity and impulsivity. They also often have problems with their executive function such as inhibition, emotion regulation, working memory, planning and organizing, etc. In addition to an intake interview, various tests are then taken to view the attention and concentration objectively. This examination is only possible for children from 6 years old.

  • Perception research is offered. I hereby listen to your child. The request for help is clarified and we examine how the child experiences the problem. Then it is discussed together which next steps will be taken.

Group lessons on social skills will be organized regularly for primary school children. You must always register in advance for this. The 5 lessons of 90 minutes always take place on Saturday morning. This program is suitable for children with autism, children with ADHD, anxious children, children with low self-esteem, children with a social-emotional disadvantage, children who are bullied, etc. In these lessons I teach them skills to make them more assertive and more resilient. I teach them to keep the internal control and what is appropriate in any situation. These skills are taught through modeling, role-playing, games, fill-out sheets, social reinforcement and transfer training.

Group sessions on grief processing will be organized regularly for primary school children. You must always register in advance for this. These sessions consist of 5 90-minute moments and will take place on Saturday morning. We do this in a group of maximum 6 children in order to give enough attention to each of them. The processing of a loss is very important. We therefore go together to learn to express their emotions and to give place to the sadness. Finding a connection with other children who are in a similar situation works. Children learn that everyone deals with it differently and that you can be angry, sad but still happy. Children often still need help to give words to how they feelings. We do this together by reminiscing, viewing photos and talking about what is being missed and how to deal with it.
